YEAR 5

Here we are, back into Remote Learning again. We started off Term 3 in the classroom, it was very good to have the students so happy and excited to be back in the routine of the classroom and enjoying their classmates’ company. During these few weeks, the students began working on Explanation writing as their writing genre for the Term. The students put a lot of thought and effort into explaining various topics through their writing. They have continued with Explanation writing through their home learning.

In Maths, Year 5’s have been working on percentages, fractions and decimals. They have continued to develop their multiplication skills. They have been working on grid references and directions.

During Drama class, the students enjoyed a class learning about Mirroring and the skills involved in copying the person opposite them. It took a lot of practise and rehearsing, but the class enjoyed performing in front of everyone and allowing the audience to guess who was the person moving and who was the mirror reflection.

However, our enjoyment in the classroom came to a quick end and we moved swiftly to home learning. A big congratulations to all of the students, for adjusting to the routine of home learning, Zoom sessions and completing work online. This time around, the students were well prepared, experienced, and able to start working online straight away, well done.

Year 5 Solar System Project

One of the assessments that the students have completed online was their Art assessment- which was making an art piece out of recycled materials or pieces from nature. Well done to all the students who put in such effort to produce fantastic and creative pieces of art.

Finally, a big congratulations to the Year 5 class. I really appreciated all your hard work. For the parents too, for all your support of your children, thank you.
